About Muhammad Jamshid:

am a Graduate of Experimental High Energy Physics at the National Center for Physics (NCP), Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad. I have a clear, logical mind with a practical approach to problem-solving and a drive to see things through to completion. I have more than 4 years of experience in teaching Mathematics and Physics to high school students and leading teams across multiple sectors. Currently I am teaching Physics to college students. I am eager to learn, I enjoy overcoming challenges, and I have a genuine interest in EHEP research and making my research team and institution successful.

Experience

I am writing to express my sincere interest in doing a PhD in Physics. I am confident that my strong writing, research skills and experience make me suitable candidate for a  research team. During my research, I have worked in several projects. I have a rich four-year working experience of research in the Physics, and I have soaked myself in measureless perception in this area over the years.

Education

I am a graduate of Experimental High Energy Physics. The main project of my master’s degree Dissertation was “Study of the Production of the Drell-Yan Cross-Section in Decay Channel at  = 13 TeV Using 2016 CMS Data". 2016 was an exceptional year for the LHC since the number of pp collision recorded by the CMS and ATLAS run from April to October was 60% more than the expected one. The projected luminosity target for the year 2016 was planned to be 25  whereas the recorded one was 40  . In this project we measure the cross-section of the Drell-Yan process where the  boson decay to muon () and its corresponding anti-muon () is considered. The data in use was collected by the CMS experiment at LHC in the year 2016 at a center of mass energy of 13 TeV. The cross-section is measured in the  invariant mass range of 60 - 120 GeV. The collected data corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 35.92  . The Standard Model prediction for the expected background is estimated with PDFs models based on data and simulated plots of  invariant mass with the help of ROOT RooFit package using the sideband subtraction technique. Different forms of statistical and systematic uncertainties are determined, and the result is compared with the theoretically predicted one and is found to be in agreement with the theoretical predictions within the statistical and systematic uncertainties.

During my research I have also worked with Dr. Ashfaq Ahamad (DG EHEP at NCP) on ATLAS HGTD for phase-II upgradation and CMS 2S modules assembly, CSC and RPC at National Centre for Physics (NCP), Quaid-I-Azam University Islamabad. During my bachelor’s degree I have also worked on a project in Theoretical Plasma Physics with Dr. Mushtaq Ahmad (HOD of Physics, International Islamic University Islamabad) whose thesis title is “Acoustic Waves Analysis in Dusty Plasma” (CV attached for detail).

In addition to this, I have good scientific writing skills, result analysis and command on various instrument regarding the mentioned scientific area. Moreover, I can easily adjust and excel what my supervisor assigns to me, and I can show good results. Currently, I am serving as a lecturer in Physics (BPS-17) at Government Postgraduate College Sadda, Tribal District Kurram KPK.
