A static var compensator (SVC) is a facts device used in electrical power systems to provide reactive power compensation .Reactive power is needed to maintain voltage levels and support the operation of inductive loads . The primary purpose of an SVC
Is to regulate and stabilize the voltage in the power grid.
An SVC typically consists of a combination of capacitors and reactors (inductors) that can be switched on or off to provide or absorb reactive power . By dynamically adjusting the reactive power injected into the system, an SVC helps to maintain a stable voltage profile and improve power factor .
