About Farah Nafees:
I managed to read the job description carefully to ensure I had the necessary skills, qualities, and attributes to perform to a high standard in the role. I would describe myself as a positive, energetic, knowledgeable, and industrious teacher. I have a flexible style of teaching that can cater to all students and abilities. I would also say that I am a high-achieving teacher. For example, in my last role, I managed to turn around an underperforming class. At the end of the year, their examination pass rate was 15 percent higher than the school average. I would say that I am adaptable, I am flexible, I will be supportive of your school, and at all times I will uphold the school values in my teaching methods.
Experience
- I’ve been teaching for 3 years now. Two years at elementary school, and a year at secondary school. Learned a lot along the way, especially what teaching method works vest for different classes and different subjects but also how to deal with different problems something every teacher faces in this district. I will be honest with you–it wasn’t always an easy ride, and I experienced a few really bad days, days when i considered quitting teaching. But luckily I’ve never done that, because when I look at the bigger picture, and all the good things that happened with the students, I still see teaching as my mission and as a dream job to have.
Education
I appreciated the academic rigour of studying English Literature. You read a text, researched on what others have said about a text, peel apart the layers of their argument, find out how you’re going to build on it, and write an essay. I miss this process.
English Literature also happens to be the kind of course that is very gracious with its students. You can catch up on your reading.
