I love to be a learner and mentor simultaneously and the aim of my teaching is to strive to inculcate human values and impart state of the art knowledge of electrical engineering to my students to enhance their learning and creative capabilities to make them confident, innovative and productive to serve the humanity and achieve the sustainable development goals.
Experience
I have been working with professional, academic and research organizations for the last 17 years. At present, I am serving as associate professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering, Mirpur University of Science and Technology (MUST), Mirpur AJ&K, Pakistan. I have served the same department as chairperson for three years (2019-22). Previously, I have served the COMSATS University Islamabad (CUI) (Ranked as 251-300 by Times Higher Education ranking in 2022 in Young University Rankings) and Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission (PAEC) after completing Batchelor of Engineering (BE) in Electrical Engineering in 2005 and Master of Engineering (ME) in Nuclear Power in 2007. I have around 7 years of post-PhD experience
Education
I have completed PhD in electrical engineering in February 2016 and the dissertation is focused on the optimized demand side management, energy cost minimization and peak to average ratio reduction in smart grids through appliances scheduling. My research interest is inter-disciplinary and includes smart grids, energy policy and management, renewables, distribution automation, electric vehicles, load forecasting, IoT, machine learning etc. There exists an enormous potential of research in above mentioned areas and I have many research ideas and plans regarding integration of renewable energy resources, electric vehicles, prosumer communities, smart cities and automation of power distribution using optimization and machine learning algorithms. Details are provided in the research statement.
My teaching philosophy is oriented towards OBE and I have been using this taxonomy since 2011. I am an OBE trainer and have successfully provided its training to the faculty in various institutions. Details are elaborated in the teaching statement.
My professional experience includes responsibilities as a senior design engineer. I have worked in design, installation, commissioning, and maintenance of power plants in different areas of Pakistan. I had been involved in the installation and commissioning of Chashma Nuclear Power Project with Shenghai Nuclear Engineering Research & Design Institute (SNERDI), East China Electrical Power Design Institute (ECEPDI) and China Nuclear Fifth Company (CNF).
