Job summary

The Head of Data Services is a visionary and execution driven senior leadership role responsible for leading and scaling The Software Factory's Data & Systems Engineering practice.

Responsibilities

  • Define and execute the Data Services strategy, aligning capabilities with evolving market and client needs.
  • Drive growth and scalability of the Data Services practice while maintaining high delivery standards.
  • Build a strong brand identity for the Data Services function within The Software Factory ecosystem.
  • Lead specialized squads across Data Engineering, Systems Engineering, Managed Services, and Data Monetization.
  • Ensure world-class delivery of turnkey projects and managed services through effective governance, SLAs, and KPIs.
  • Integrate AI/ML, cloud-native engineering, and modern data stacks into practice offerings.
  • Build structured frameworks for skill development, certification, and career progression within the practice.
  • Mentor technical leads and create a strong talent pipeline for future leadership roles.
  • Partner with HR and L&D to drive upskilling initiatives and continuous capability enhancement.
  • Partner with Business Development to design and price competitive service offerings.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional leaders to ensure data services are embedded in broader transformation programs.
  • Contribute to the long-term strategy of The Software Factory by bringing thought leadership on technology trends.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or related technical field.
  • Master's degree in Business or Technology preferred.
  • Years of experience in Data & IT services, with at least 5 years in leadership roles.
  • Proven track record in managing large engineering teams (50+ people) and complex delivery portfolios.
  • Demonstrated success in delivering managed services, data engineering projects, and monetizable data products.
  • Strong people leadership and mentoring ability.
  • Excellent governance, program management, and project delivery discipline.
  • Commercial awareness around cost structures, margins, and scalability models.
