    Description

    Job Title: Specialist Optical Transport Planning

    The Specialist Optical Transport Planning role reports directly to the Manager Optical Fiber Infrastructure & Capacity Management.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Transport Network Design: Develop comprehensive transport network designs using optical fiber technology.
    • Capacity Planning and Optimization: Conduct capacity planning and optimization for new and existing network infrastructures.
    • Tech Evaluation and Selection: Evaluate and select appropriate technologies and equipment for network expansion and enhancement.
    • Process Improvements: Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost reductions in network planning and operations.
    • Fiber Network Knowledge: Detailed understanding of 2G/3G/4G network architecture and transport network technologies.
    • Optical Fiber Network Planning: Optical fiber network planning & optimization, topology planning, evaluation, and deployment tracking.
    • Fiber Design Understanding: Understanding of fiber network design processes from input and requirements gathering to final design provisioning.
    • Fiber To The Site (FTTS) Design: Understanding of Fiber To The Site (FTTS) OSP and ISP design and planning for enhancing FTTS footprint.
    • Fiber Database Maintenance: Developing and maintaining network fiber databases including GIS databases.
    • New Requirements Understanding: Understanding new requirements such as feasibilities and solutions from all stakeholders such as B2B functions.
    • Budgeting Process Understanding: Understanding the budgeting process to generate business plans across fiber and optical network.
    • Fiber Health Analysis: Fiber health KPI analysis leading to optimization and improvement strategies and initiatives.
    • Optical Nodes Planning: Optical nodes planning & optimization for backbone & access network; Huawei products is a plus.
    • WDM and OTN Planning: WDM (Backbone Optical) OTN network planning & optimization.
    • Expansion Planning: Planning for expansion required on the optical layer for 2G, 3G & 4G rollout.
    • Corporate Expansion: Planning for expansion required for corporate customers on the optical layer.
    • Synchronization Requirements: Understanding of synchronization requirements for telecom networks.
    • RFQ Preparation: Preparation and running of RFQ and generating analysis for the same.
    • Optical Network Monitoring: Optical network KPIs monitoring & reporting.
    • Budgeting and Business Planning: Budgeting & business planning of optical transport network.
    • Leased Media Planning: Leased media feasibility evaluations & planning for solutions to meet requirements.
    • Project Coordination: Coordination, execution and support for new projects.
    • Network KPIs Management: Ensuring network KPIs are above set thresholds.
    • Interdepartmental Coordination: Interdepartmental coordination (operation, marketing, finance, and NOC).
    • IP-Based Layer 3 Network: Understanding of IP-based Layer 3 network and solutions applicable to telecom networks.

    Requirements:

    Experience and Educational Requirements:

    • Experience: 3+ years in optical planning domain & BE Electrical/Telecom.

    Soft Skills and Technical Skills Required:

    • GIS Tools Experience: Experienced with GIS tools (Google Earth, Mapinfo).
    • MS Office: MS Office.
    • Good Communication Skills: Good communication skills.
