Provide highly skilled and specialized care to critically ill patients in the Adult Cardiac Care Unit (CCU), ensuring optimal patient outcomes and safety.
- Utilize advanced technical knowledge and expertise in operating and maintaining a wide range of cardiac and respiratory equipment, including ventilators, defibrillators, arterial and venous lines, intra-aortic balloon pumps, and continuous renal replacement therapy machines.
- Collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team of physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized patient care plans, closely monitoring vital signs, administering medications, and managing IV therapies.
- Perform advanced patient assessments, including cardiac monitoring, interpretation of EKG readings, and recognition of subtle changes in patient condition, promptly notifying the healthcare team to initiate appropriate interventions.
- Demonstrate proficiency in performing invasive procedures such as arterial puncture, central line placement, and chest tube insertion, adhering to strict infection control protocols and maintaining a sterile environment at all times.
- Act as a resource and mentor for less experienced staff, providing guidance and support in handling complex patient scenarios, troubleshooting equipment issues, and ensuring compliance with quality assurance standards.
- Collaborate in the implementation and evaluation of evidence-based practice protocols, contributing to the ongoing improvement and advancement of patient care in the Adult CCU.
- Actively participate in interdisciplinary rounds, presenting patient updates and collaborating with the team to determine the most effective plan of care for each individual.
- Remain updated on current advancements and industry trends in critical care medicine, attending relevant conferences, workshops, and continuing education programs to continuously enhance knowledge and skills.
- Serve as a liaison between patients, families, and the healthcare team, addressing concerns and providing emotional support during challenging times.
