I’ve recently completed my medical degree in Pakistan, and I’m feeling really proud to officially call myself a doctor now. It’s been quite a journey of learning and growth.

During my house job, I had the chance to rotate through different areas like Cardiology, General Medicine, Cardiac Surgery, and General Surgery. It was eye-opening to experience the unique challenges and rewards that each specialty brings.

In Cardiology, I got to dive deep into the intricacies of the heart and the whole cardiovascular system. Seeing firsthand how advanced treatments can make a real difference in patients’ lives was truly inspiring.

The General Medicine rotation was like a crash course in a wide range of medical conditions. From common illnesses to more complex cases, I gained a solid understanding of how to diagnose and manage various health issues.

And then there were Cardiac Surgery and General Surgery, where I got a taste of the OR environment. Assisting skilled surgeons, witnessing complex procedures – it gave me a new appreciation for surgical precision and teamwork.

But it wasn’t just about the medical skills. Interacting with patients from all walks of life and collaborating with different healthcare professionals taught me so much about effective communication and compassionate care.

Looking back, I’m so thankful for the guidance of experienced mentors who helped shape my journey. With this diverse experience under my belt, I’m excited to take my passion for medicine, use it to make a positive impact on patients’ lives, and keep pushing myself to grow in this ever-evolving field.
