My CV provides a brief overview of my responsibilities, but I would like to highlight a few noteworthy projects that showcase my capabilities in greater detail.

Mission Doctor for European Union  (EU EOM recruited via UN-IOM):

I am proud to have been selected as a Mission Doctor for the European Union Election Observation Mission (EU EOM) in 2018, representing Pakistan during the general elections. Recognized as a 'trailblazer' by the EUEOM executive management unit, I provided preventative and clinical services to around 80-100 EU observers. Additionally, I developed a groundbreaking technical manual titled "How to be a Mission Doctor," outlining the competencies and services required for future doctors in EUEOM missions. To enhance the quality of healthcare services during the mission, I introduced specialized disease surveillance and reporting mechanism for the observers. I established collaborations with various stakeholders such as the National Institute of Health (NIH), DOMC Directorate of Malaria Control, primary, secondary, and tertiary care hospitals/trauma centers nationwide, EDHI ambulance service (ground and air ambulance), and SOS international for MEDEVAC in case of evacuation to another country when necessary.

 I introduced specialized disease surveillance and reporting mechanism, collaborated with key stakeholders, and designed a comprehensive network to enhance healthcare services. By conducting an evaluation survey using the PDCA model, I ensured continuous process improvement and received commendation from the EUEOM Project Management Team and FPI (Service for Foreign Policy Instruments) for my proactive approach and dedication to quality improvement in healthcare services.

Samsons Trust Hospital Mardan:

In a challenging endeavor, I successfully revitalized an outdated healthcare unit in Par Hoti, Mardan, turning it into a structurally sound facility capable of delivering high-quality outpatient clinical services to the community. Overcoming political and regulatory hurdles, I assumed a supervisory role and developed comprehensive Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) encompassing both clinical and administrative aspects. These SOPs were meticulously designed based on industry best practices, with a strong focus on patient safety, infection control, and service quality. Leveraging IP CCTV technology, continuous remote monitoring and swift action-taking became feasible, ensuring the utmost vigilance. Additionally, I implemented weekly audits encompassing patient load, morbidity/mortality rates, prevalent diseases, referrals, and incident reporting, ensuring a proactive approach to quality assurance.

Barakah Health and Wellness Centre:

I spearheaded the establishment of a groundbreaking wellness center in Pakistan, exclusively catering to maternal and child care. While initially targeting the affluent community in Islamabad, the underlying principles and services can be adapted to benefit low-income rural communities through public-private funding and partnerships. The program encompassed a wide range of beneficiaries, including women of reproductive age groups, postmenopausal women, and children aged 0 to 5 years, with a specific focus on early childhood development. As the project lead, I embarked on an unprecedented journey, starting from conceptualization and conducting feasibility surveys to exploring existing health facilities, selecting suitable sites, defining services, developing job descriptions, hiring staff, creating service manuals, overseeing facility design and construction, and finally, orchestrating the successful soft launch of the center. While collaborating with experts in relevant fields, it was my primary responsibility as the project manager to ensure the realization of this ambitious endeavor, addressing all essential aspects required for project success. At every stage, a keen focus was placed on mitigating potential risks and ensuring the highest standards of quality and safety.

By incorporating organization-wide risk management practices, we proactively identified and addressed potential risks related to facility operations, staff competence, patient safety, infection control, and overall service quality. Through close collaboration with experts in relevant fields, I fostered a culture of risk awareness and continuous improvement, ensuring that all aspects of the project were meticulously planned and executed to minimize potential hazards and optimize outcomes.

This project not only allowed me to demonstrate my expertise in preventive healthcare, but it also highlighted my ability to effectively manage risks on an organization-wide level. I firmly believe that a robust risk management framework is essential for any preventive healthcare initiative to thrive and deliver the intended benefits to the target population.

As a FISQua Fellow from the International Society for Quality in Healthcare, Ireland, I possess advanced expertise in Total Quality Management within healthcare settings, spanning both preventive and curative domains. This esteemed fellowship has equipped me with the necessary knowledge and skills to effectively manage and enhance the quality of care, even in resource-limited settings and underserved communities. I am a firm believer in the importance of lifelong learning, as it serves as the cornerstone for continuous personal and professional development.
