Agriculture
About Dr.Naseer Ahmad:
My research interests primarily revolve around soil microbial ecology, root-rhizosphere interactions, and the application of stable isotopes in understanding biogeochemical processes. I am particularly intrigued by the functional microbial interactions in soil and rhizosphere environments and their implications for sustainable agriculture. My expertise in molecular microbial ecology, advanced molecular techniques (such as PCR, qPCR, DNA-SIP, and next-generation sequencing), and isotopic techniques (including natural abundance and IRMS) make me well-equipped to address these research questions.
Experience
I have an extensive background in Biological Sciences, with a focus on root-rhizosphere interactions, soil microbial ecology, and crop biosafety. I hold a Ph.D. in environmental microbiology, where my research analyzed soil and plants, especially rhizosphere microbial communities and their function. I have held various professional appointments, including Assistant Professor at COMSATS University Islamabad-Abbottabad campus, where I have taught and conducted research at the undergraduate and graduate levels. I have also served as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Institute of Urban Environment, Chinese Academy of Sciences, where I investigated microbial function in soil nutrient cycling. I have published several research articles in reputable journals and have presented my work at conferences and workshops. My research skills encompass wet lab techniques in soil microbiology and biogeochemical analysis, as well as plant analytical techniques. I am proficient in statistical analysis and data interpretation using various software programs.
Education
The individual holds a Ph.D. in Plant Sciences (2014) from Quaid-I-Azam University, Pakistan, and the University of Missouri, USA. Their research focused on analyzing bacterial diversity in the rhizosphere of genetically modified and non-GM maize crops and characterizing isolated strains. They also have an M.Phil. in Plant Sciences (Plant Physiology) (2009) from Quaid-I-Azam University, Pakistan, where their research investigated the allelopathic potential of aqueous extracts of maize and soybean on their physiology and growth. Additionally, they hold a B.Sc. (Hons) in Agricultural Science (Agronomy) (2007) from Agricultural University, Peshawar, Pakistan. They currently serve as an Assistant Professor at COMSATS University Islamabad/Abbottabad Campus, Pakistan, teaching and conducting research in environmental sciences and biotechnology. Their research interests include root-rhizosphere interactions, crop biosafety, soil microbial ecology, soil biogeochemistry, and microbial-plant interactions. They have published several papers in reputable journals and have received fellowships and awards for their work. They have also participated in conferences, workshops, and training programs related to their field of expertise.
