About Armghan Geo:

I completed my PhD (Structural Geology) from Ruhr University, Bochum in September 2017 and worked on Numerical modelling (FEM, Ansys and Code Aster) and Kinematics (MOVE, Kingdom) of inversion features of Western Barents Sea.

Earlier, I did my Master in Geology from Aarhus University, Denmark and worked on seismic interpretation of extension tectonics and structural restoration of salt structures of the southern North Sea.

I also worked in the oil and gas industry and was involved in G & G studies, seismic and wireline log interpretation and identification and evaluation of new play concepts.

Currently I am working as an Assistant Professor at the Institute of Geology, University of the Punjab, Lahore, Pakistan. My research interests include numerical modeling (Ansys, Comsol), analogue modeling (sandbox), fracture analysis of carbonate rocks, structural restoration of complex geometries (compressional, transform), salt tectonics and carbonate sedimentology.

Experience

Currently, I am working as an Assistant Professor at the Institute of Geology, University of the Punjab, Lahore, Pakistan and teaching graduate and MS/M. Phil level course and also supervising
final thesis projects of MS/M. Phil students. My research focus on numerical (ANSYS, COMSOL) and fracture modeling (DFN) of carbonate reservoir rocks of NW, Himalayas, Pakistan. I am also working on analogue modeling (Sandbox) of Cenozoic compressional features of NW Himalayas, Pakistan.
I am also working as consultant geologist with Sentrum Engineering Services (Pvt) Limited since 2019 to date. I supervise the clients in acquiring mining leases of rock Salt, Coal, Gypsum, etc and total reserve estimation, I also supervise and involve in geophysical and geotechnical site investigations.
A part form that, I am involved in different industrial (E & P) projects related to prospect generation, petroleum, play identification and conceptual structural modeler.

Education

Geology is the mother of all branches of earth sciences which illuminate the hidden treasure of earth. The curiosity and great passion made me student of earth sciences and I broadened up my study and got B.Sc degree in Applied Geology, followed by a Masters in Applied Geology from University of Punjab, Lahore, Pakistan, focusing on structural geology and petroleum plays of Indus basin of Pakistan. During these five years of studies, I followed all core geology and geophysics courses, with annual geological excursion to the Himalayas and surrounding regions.
Being a curious person I continue my studies and completed my Master in Geology from University of Aarhus, Denmark that not only enhanced my knowledge but also provided me a chance to interact with industry people across the world. It further helped me in learning and solving problems with new technologies and methods in geological and geophysical explorations which were not available in Pakistan. During my MS, I worked on seismic interpretation of extensional features and salt tectonics of Southern North Sea under the supervision of Dr. Ole Rono.
After completing my MS Geology from Denmark, I joined Oil & Gas industry in Pakistan and worked for an exploration company (SPUD Energy Pvt Pak.) as a Geologist for one year. My main responsibilities were G & G studies, identification and evaluation of new prospects, development of new play concept and petroleum system, seismic and well log interpretation.
In 2011, I joined the leading University of Pakistan namely; University of the Punjab, Lahore where I worked as a Lecturer for three years. In 2013, I got DAAD (Germany) scholarship for PhD and I completed my PhD under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Christophe Pascal from the Ruhr University Bochum, Germany in July 2017. The project was co-supervised by Prof. Dr. Roy H. Gabrielsen and Prof. Dr. Jan Inge Faleide from Oslo University, Norway.
My PhD research is about numerical and kinematic modeling (MOVETM) of inversion structures of western Barents Sea. Research mainly focused on numerical modeling (Code Aster, ANSYS) of Cenozoic and Mesozoic inversion features.
